Appearance: Standing about five foot eight inches, Maelie is on the tall side. She is albino, giving her a pale complexion and white hair. Her eyes are also a dull pink, but she hides them behind blue-green colored, prescription contact lenses, also due to her astigmatism. She tends to wear hoodies or anything sporty with jeans and tennis shoes.

I'M FLATTERED BY YOUR INTEREST
I'M FLATTERED BY YOUR INTEREST
LIKES: basketball, summer, Lite-Brites, apple pie, Fourth of July, poetry
DISLIKES: volleyball, bullies, the color pink, being alone, biology
STRENGTHS: competitive, optimistic, energetic, hard-working, friendly
WEAKNESSES: has astigmatism, doesn't really think through plans, pack-rat, unrealistic expectations of herself, stubborn
QUIRKS/HABITS: She tends to gently tug on a strand of hair when she's nervous or anxious.
FEARS: the dark, spiders
GOALS: captain of the basketball team
PERSONALITYDetermined and energetic, Maelie has a competitive streak. She gives everything she does 110%. She is still somewhat childish, as she enjoys playing with Lite-Brites. She doesn't tolerate bullies, but she doesn't lash out if anyone bullies her. Instead, she jokes along with them. She'll stand up for other people, though.
She doesn't like the idea of cliques and doesn't really put herself in any one group. She enjoys writing poetry during class when she gets bored, especially during biology. Her only irrational fears are the dark (which she combats with a lightning-bolt-shaped night light) and spiders.

HISTORY:Born an only child in the small town of Rose Hill, Maelie was a lonely girl. There were no children on her street, and with no siblings, she had no one to play with. School was difficult for her because of her hair color. The children would tease her and sometimes pull her hair, which she kept long at the time. It was when a boy in her class cut her hair with safety scissors that something snapped. She got into a fist fight with the boy, resulting in more teasing for the duration of her time in the town.
When her family moved to Salida, Colorado, for her father's job, Maelie gained a clean slate. She learned to laugh along with anyone who teased her and eventually the teasing stopped. Basketball became her obsession, and she even tried out for volleyball once. But, after a spike to the face, she lost a love for the sport. When asked about why she doesn't like volleyball, she simply states, "They'd mistake my head for the ball!"
She's kept her hair shoulder-length since the boy in her younger days cut it. She promised never to grow it out again. She was never exactly part of the popular crowd, but she made quite a few friends since the move and has adjusted well to the snowy town.

POST EXAMPLE:"Okay, focus, Maelie. You can do this. Here it comes. Show 'em who's boss!” The girl threw her arms up to guard her face and moved out of the way of the flying projectile. The volleyball hit the floor of the court, causing the opposing team to cheer. “Idiot...”
Scratching the back of her head and giggling nervously, Maelie said to her teammates, “Oops, sorry! You see, volleyball's not really my thing, so...” The PE teacher announced that it was time to hit the showers. The girl ran to the locker room as fast as she could.
She stared up at the ceiling as the water cascaded down on her. “Can't believe that... I saw the way they looked at me... I let them all down... Stupid volleyball unit...” Lost in thought, she couldn't hear her fellow students telling her to hurry up. The dismissal bell brought her out of her trance. “Crap!” she shrieked, turning off the water and quickly throwing on her school clothes.
Running down the hallway, Maelie tried to put her hoodie on and get to class on time. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her right eye, and she fell to the floor, holding a hand over the eye. She saw a shock of white hair that was not her own pass by her face for a moment, and suddenly the pain was gone.
A concerned teacher knelt down beside her. “Are you okay? Are you not feeling well?”
The tardy bell rang, and Maelie groaned. She was dead meat.
“You poor thing! Let's get you to the nurse!” The teacher led Maelie down the hall towards the nurse's office.
“Maybe this isn't so bad. If I look like I'm sick, Mrs. Lowery won't be mad at me for being late. And if I really sell it, maybe I can go home!” Groaning a little more, she whispered pitifully, “Can I call Mom? I wanna go home...”
“Of course you can, sweetie,” the teacher replied. Maelie couldn't remember her name to save her life. But it didn't matter. After a horrible PE class, she'd be going home and wouldn't be counted late for class.
